73 players showed up at Starcade Billiards in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on the weekend of February 16-17 to compete for the $5150.00 total prize fund up for grabs at the 5th Annual Andy Grubbs Memorial.
John Schmidt sailed through the winners bracket with wins over Scotty Townsend, Walter Dufour, Josh Hillard, and Tony the Sniper Crosby before meeting newcomer Trent Plampin in the finals in a race to 12 for the championship. Schmidt came out on top 12 to 7 for the tournament win.
Plampin's trek was in the A bracket where he lost to Rick Howard 9-8 in that brackets finals. Out of the one loss side he posted wins over Stoney Stone, Scotty Townsend, and Rick Howard to reach the finals against Schmidt
This was a very well rounded and very competitive field that came to compete with players from all over the Southeast. Our thanks to all that came to play.
