The Pechauer New England A/B Tour drew a field of 20 players to Legendary Billiards in Malden Ma for the third stop on the tour. Tony Ruberto led a field that also included Paul Rota, Mike Minichello, Mike Nicaloro, Manny Hamel, Louis Rious and Lee French.
The hot seat match was a very close one between Tony Ruberto and Louis Rious. The score was tied after 10 games, but Louis made a critical mistake on a 7 ball and let Tony back to the table with an easy 3 ball out and made the score 6-5 in favor of Tony. To make matters worse he would get punished for missing that last 7 ball as Tony made the 9 ball on the snap to win the match and have his first berth into the finals.
The one loss side finals was between Lee French and Louis Rious. The match was one sides with Rious drilling French 7-2. Rious beat Lee French twice in this tournament and they were both 7-2 victorys.
The finals was between a tired Louis Rious and a well rested Tony Ruberto. It was one single race to 10 games and Tony came out firing at Lious with a five pack before Louis could blink. Louis came back with a couple of games to make it 5-2 before Tony won the next 3 racks to make the score 8-2. Louis didn't just keel over and die though. He won the next 5 games to make the score 8-7 in favor of Tony. In the end, Tony was just too rested for Louis and he would fall short 10-7.
I would like to thank Legendary Billiards for hosting this event and the next stop is next Sunday October 9th at Cue Sport Cafe in Abington Ma.
