Tommy Kennedy brought his SE Open Tour to Burrkat's Billiards in Monroe, NC on Saturday for a $1000 added New Years event.
The top seeds from the start were Kenney and BJ Ussery, but Kennedy found himself knocked to the tournament desk thanks to losses suffered at the hands of Eddie Little and Ron Park. Kennedy was not the only top seed to lose at the hands of Little as Ussery was knocked to the one-loss side by Little.
Park went on to take the hot-seat with a smothering 9-1 win over Keith K, while Ussery clawed his way back through the one-loss side. Ussery avenged his loss to Little and then eliminated Keith K to earn his spot in the finals.
Ussery came out firing in the finals and raced to an early 4-1 lead, but Park fought back to tie the score. The match went back and forth with neither player willing to give an inch until Parl capitalized on a couple late errors by Ussery to earn the 11-9 victory.
Park earned $700 for first, while Ussery settled for $500. Keith K and Little filled out the top four spots. The top junior was Brandon Blackburn and the top female was Laura Benoit. Brandon and Laura each earned $50.
The SE Open 9-Ball Tour will be at Cunningham's Pool & Dart's in Vero Beach, Fl next weekend for their next event.
