WorldPPA promoter Bob Beaulieu reports last weekend’s WorldPPA Shootout (Aug 24-25, 2013) held at Garlic City Billiards in Gilroy, California; 62 players showed up to play handicapped 9-ball, race to 8 on the winner’s side and to 5 on the one loss side.
Stephen Knittel, owner of Garlic City Billiards, provided specials on hamburgers/hotdogs, chips and drink for $4 and everyone had a blast. Albert Markasky amazed everyone with his tossing washers & bean bags in between matches in the back parking lot; and, Deo Alpajora dazzled others with his ability to juggle billiard balls and trick shots on the pool table. Sylvester Coronado brought his Iron Horse motorcycle with blue-glowing-lights – Wow what a bike! Tournament Directors Teresa Mojica and Lisa Coronado ran an exceptionally well organized event. Thanks to everyone for making this a wonderful tournament!
Congratulations to Richard Kaeser for taking 1st Place and winning $510; and to Josh Coioso, who worked his way up the one-loss side and then forced Rich into a second final match to a hill-hill decision – down to the last 3 balls! Great playing by both players. To view pictures of the event, go to http://www.worldppa.com/pics.html.
