Efren Reyes has been named the January 2004 AzBilliards Player of the Month.
Reyes not only won the Derby City Classic All Around Championship, he also won the One-Pocket Division and placed second in the 9-ball division. He also placed fourth in the UPA Pro Tour Championship in early January.
Reyes' opponent in the Derby City 9-Ball Division finals, Ralf Souquet, was named as the runner-up for January. Souquet beat Reyes handily in the 9-ball Finals and finished in second place for the All Around Championship. Souquet also finished third in the UPA Pro Tour Championship.
Reyes was the overwhelming favorite in visitor voting for Player of the Month with over 50% of the vote. Souquet ended up tied for third with UPA Pro Tour Champion Mika Immonen for third place in visitor voting with Johnny Archer finishing in second place. Reyes' total prize money for January was $38,700, while Souquet earned $19,965 for the month.
