The thirty-fifth stop on the 2008/2009 Pechauer All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted at Billiards on Main in Galesburg, IL, on Saturday, February 21. The $500 added event drew twenty-seven players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. Randy Tenley [4] (Galesburg, IL) took down the hot-seat match over Jim Lafavre (Sterling, IL) (rated a “5” on a regional handicap system used) 4-3. Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, Tenley upended Billy Erickson [4] (Galesburg, IL) 4-1, while LaFavre dispatched Brad Simpson [4] (Galesburg, IL) 5-2. In the B-side bracket Dave Gossar [4] (Rockford, IL) ousted Billy Erickson [4] at 5th place 4-1, while Brad Simpson [4] eliminated Dirk Pagakis [4] (Sheridan, IL) at the same placement 4-1. In the B-side semifinals Simpson gained momentum by ending Dave Gossar's day by a 4-2 margin. In the B-side finals, Simpson whitewashed the higher-rated Jim LaFavre 4-0. However, undefeated Randy Tenley was up for the Simpson challenge in the tourney finals, and Tenley took down the first set – 4-2 – for the title!
By virtue of Randy Tenley being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 9-Ball singles entry into the 2009 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors J. Pechauer Custom Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric, Nick Varner Signature Cases and oZone Billiards for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the Pechauer All American Tour.
