In about four weeks, August 10-13, 2013, five of the greatest straight pool players on the planet will duke it out against each other at the “Make It Happen” Straight Pool Invitational. Danny Harriman, Thorsten Hohmann, Mika Immonen, Oliver Ortmann, and Ralf Souquet are the chosen few for the event being staged at the Simonis Arena, in Edison, New Jersey. Originally, John Schmidt was scheduled to play, but had to drop out. Ralf Souquet was voted in to replace Schmidt. Souquet, the 2000 U.S. Open Straight Pool Champion could not have been a better choice as evidenced by the voting by the Accu-Stats supporters who are financing the entire production.
For four days, these superstars will compete in a “Double Round Robin” format, a total of 20 matches, battling it out on a 9’ Diamond table with Simonis 860 cloth, and a 30 second shot clock. Each 75 point match will be super intense, with pressure on every single shot, and the potential for the highest runs ever in a straight pool tournament. Runs of “50 and out” or more may be continued for bonus money.
