A field of 32 players made their way to Hardtimes Billiards in Sacramento, CA over the weekend for the latest stop on the Western Women's Regional Tour. The field consisted of Michelle Rakin and 31 other players looking to knock her from her position at the top of the tour. Like a gunslinger in the old west, Rakin had taken on all challengers and didn't blink on her way to seven straight tour victories. As a testament to her tour domination, Rakin had not lost a match in almost a year on tour.
A first round bye for Rakin was followed by a match with Vivi Chen. Chen got to five against Rakin and that was as close as anyone got all weekend. Rakin went on to score wins over Loretta Chanbers, Yo Bonnett, Revelina Morales and Jesse Killian on her way to the hot-seat.
On the one-loss side Eleanor Collado was making her way through the pack after a loss to Sher Ahola. Collado defeated Mary Osborn and Jane Fujinaga in back-to-back hill-hill wins, and then made her way easily through Revelina Morales 7-1 and then Lisa D'Atri 7-2. A hill-hill win over Jesse Killian set Collado up for a match against Rakin in the finals, but all the work to get to the finals was not paid off as Collado lost to Rakin 7-2 in the first and only set.
Rakin collected $390 for first place, while Collado settled for $265. Killian and D'Atri filled out the top four spots. The tournament win was the eighth straight win for Rakin and she has not lost a match all season long.
The Western Women's Regional Tour will be Family Billiards in San Francisco, CA on November 6th - 7th for their season finale where Rakin will try to finish off a completely unbeaten season of play.
