The Western Women's Regional Tour brought a field of 36 players to The Broken Rack in Emeryville, CA over the weekend. Thirty five of those players had hopes of ending the run of the 36th, Michelle Rakin. Rakin had won the last six stops on tour, including hill-hill wins over Jane Fujinaga in the last two stops.
Rakin's undefeated run looked to be over on Saturday as Revelina had the chance to put Rakin away, but let Rakin back into the match and lost 7-6. From there, Rakin rolled into the hot-seat, which she took with a 7-4 win over Mary Osborn.
On the one-loss side, Osborn lost to Morales who was looking for another shot at Rakin. Morales earned that shot, but Rakin was ready for her this time and cruised to a 7-3 win in the finals.
Rakin collected $410 for the win, her 7th in a row. Morales took home $285 for second. Osborn and Eleanor Collado filled out the top four spots.
The WWR Tour will be at Hardtimes in Sacramento, CA on October 16-17 where the players will get another shot at Rakin.
