For the first time in Viking Tour history, Shawn Putnam will not be playing at the National Championship.
Putnam was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and has withdrawn from the event in order to concentrate on his health at the moment.
While the field will not include Putnam, there will be no shortage of top 9-ball talent with players from as far as California and Canada alredy in town for the event. Top guns in this field include Earl Strickland, Corey Deuel, Charlie Bryant, Gabe Owen, Shannon Daulton, Larry Nevel, Troy Frank and Tony Crosby. In addition to the male players, WPBA veterans Monica Webb, Helena Thornfeldt and Alice Rim will be competing.
The event takes place at The Pool Room in Duluth, GA and kicks off tonight with a $1000 added mini tournament. The main event starts on Wednesday. We should have online brackets from the event all week long.
