The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour was at Cue-Can-Do Billiards in Schaumburg, IL this weekend where a field of hopefuls was looking to take home their share of the $1000 in added prize money. Those hopes might have been dashed the minute Shawn Putnam walked in the door. To say Putnam was the early favorite would be an understatement. Putnam had won the last three Viking events he entered and had gone undefeated to do it.
To no one's surprise, Putnam took the hot-seat with a 7-1 victory over Duana Tuula. After Tuula lost to Josh Ulrich on the one-loss side, Putnam brought Ulrich's tournament hopes to an end with with a 7-2 win. Putnam did not allow an opponent past four games during the entire tournament and lost a total of 9 games in this event.
Putnam earned $500 in prize money, while Ulrich settled for $350. Tuula and Scott Cohen filled out the top four spots. This tournament win brings Putnam's streak to 4 straight undefeated victories and 27 straight matches won on the Viking Tour.
