The Puerto Rico Shoot-Out 2006 is underway at Players Billiards in Yauco Puerto Rico. The event is by far the most prestigious event to take place in Puerto Rico since the 1996 PBT-Camel Grand Prix of Puerto Rico. Johnny Archer, Corey Deuel, Gabe Owen, Tony Robles, Pablo Matheu, Robb Saez are the Pro Players.
Among this star-studded cast, we have 4 (past) Puerto Rico 9 Ball Champions and 3 (past) Puerto Rico 8 Ball Champions. These are: Alan Rolon, Edgardo Ramirez, Juan Rodriguez, Eric Gonzalez, Edwin Garcia, Halmar Mojica, and Edito Trujillo.
Two other notable players to visit the Island are Aaron "The Baron" Franken, from Aruba, Dutch-Caribbean Island and Julio "Latin Connection" Aquino.
Aaron Franken is the current CPB Panamerican 8 Ball Champion. This Championship is held on a yearly basis and is between 17 member countries of the CPB.
Julio Aquino is a native Puerto Rican from San Sebastian, Puerto Rico currently living in Florida, USA.
Aquino just recently locked the KBP Fury Amateur 9-Ball Tour's North and Central Florida divisions as point leader and took home a bitter-sweet certificate that graduated him from the amateur tour, meaning he will not be able to compete next season (2006).
