All of us here at AzBilliards were saddened to hear of the passing on Friday of Dave Piona.
Piona was a well known player across the country, but had settled in the Bay area 20 years ago.
Dave was survived by wife Christina and daughter Estrella, brother Carl, many nieces and nephews, extended family and countless friends.
Dave grew up in Walnut Creek, CA. He learned to play pool at a young age and it became his livelihood by his early twenties. He is well known in the pool/billiard community as a major player and friend. He spent twenty plus years out on the road honing his trade. His presence will be hugely missed throughout the community. He loved pool and was an ambassador for the sport. He won many different local and regional tournaments throughout his career. He became a Christian and spread the good news whenever and wherever he could. He was an awesome lead guitarist and loved to play the blues. Words can't possibly express how much he'll be missed. He touched everyone who came into his path in life.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. First Covenant Church 4000 Redwood Road Oakland, CA 94619
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave's name to Faith Network of the East Bay – www.faith-network.com
