Adam Pendley swept undefeated through a field of 33 entrants, on hand for the Great Southern Billiard Tour stop on the weekend of December 12-13. The $1,500-added amateur event was hosted by Fast Eddie's in Goldsboro, NC.
From among the winners' side final four, Pendley and Sam Monday defeated Jackson Jeffries and Mike Frowein, respectively, 11-4. In the first of their two meetings, Pendley gained the hot seat with an 11-9 victory over Monday and waited for him to come back through the semifinal matchup on the one-loss side.
In their opening match on that one-loss side, Jeffries and Frowein squared off against Sparky Ferrell and Larry Faulk. Ferrell, who'd been sent west by Pendley, had defeated Cary Dunn 11-7 and P.J. Moore 11-4 to get to Frowein. Faulk, in the meantime, moved past David Sprum 9-3 and Younger Chapman 9-7 to reach Jeffries. Two double hill matches ensued, with Ferrell defeating Frowein 11-6 (Frowein needed to reach 7) and Faulk downing Jeffries 9-6 (Jeffries, as well, had to reach 7). With Ferrell needing to reach 11 games in the quarterfinal, Faulk advanced to the semifinals with a 9-9 victory.
Monday earned his second shot at Pendley with an 11-6 win over Faulk. Pendley took the opening set of the true double elimination final 11-7 to take home the first place prize.
