The second Ron Greenberg Memorial took place in San Diego October 8th and 9th with a field of 74 players. Big guns such as Jose Parica, Louis Ulrich, Tang Hoa, Dan Wallace, Victor Castro, Steve Eakins, Ernesto Dominguez, Morro Paez and WPBA touring pro Ga Young Kim came to compete for the $1,300 1st place prize money.
Many exciting matches took place over the weekend including Ernesto Dominguez handily running over Jose Parica on the winners side 9-2. LA player Tang Hoa had a hill-hill victory over Arturo Rivera making an 8-4 comeback which moved Hoa in to play Ernesto Domingez for the hot seat in another hill-hill match leaving Hoa undefeated. Parica came back through the losers side beating San Diego local Victor Castro in a heart breaking hill-hill match, a win over local Ben Yamul, a win over Morro Paez to move back for a rematch with Domingez. Parica left unphased and in dead stroke ran past Dominguez defeating him 7-4 moving him into the finals to play the undefeated Hoa.
In the final match, Tang Hoa started off strong but had a series of unfortunate hooks and unlucky roles which gave Parica a quick 3-1 lead in the race to 13 final. Parica then went on to finish the match 13-5 taking home the $1,300 first place prize money.
