The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour got back on the tournament scene on the weekend of November 1st and 2nd at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, NJ with a field of 45 players competing for $2000 in added prize money.
In addition to the pressure of playing for $1500 in first place prize money, the players knew that their matches were also being streamed live on the net by Accu-Stats. That pressure didn't seem to phase Jose Parica one bit, as he ran through the field undefeated to the hot-seat. Parica started Sunday play with a 9-3 win over Adam Kielar and then a 9-6 win over Mike Zuglan for the hot-seat.
The one loss side resembled a minefield with players unable to play more than one or two matches without being eliminated. Dave Grau eliminated Allen Hopkins 9-6, but was then knocked out by Jeremy Sossei 9-7. Sossei's celebration was short as he was then eliminated by Adam Kielar 9-2. Kielar also sent Joey Kong to the stands with a 9-6 win to earn a shot at Zuglan in the semi-finals. And this match went to Kielar 9-5, sending Zuglan to the sidelines in third place.
The finals was a rematch between Parica and Kielar, but it was a short match as Parica cruised to a 9-3 win in the first set.
Parica earned $1500 for first, while Kielar took home $1100 for second.
The Joss Tour will be at Hippos House of Billiards in Yorkville, NY next weekend for their next stop. That event will certainly be a big one, as Hippos is owned by Al Conte's family.
