The nine-ball division at the Carolinas Open got underway on Thursday with a field of 44 players competing for the $2500 first prize.
The field was stocked with all the talent from the one-pocket division, as well as late arrivers Earl Strickland and Johnny Archer.
The usual suspects advanced on the winners side on Thurday with the match of the night won by Jose Parica. Parica came back from an 8-5 deficit to win six straight games over Mike Davis to score the 11-8 victory. Parica will face Nicholas Hickerson on Friday.
The brackets for the 9-ball event are posted and will be updated all weekend.
