With tour points leader Ronnie Alcano and some of the other top players in Atlantic City for the Ten-Ball Challenge at Trump Marina, this week's stop on the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour at Cap's Cue Club in Syracuse, NY, was wide open for someone to snatch the win.
The winners side came down to 'The Lion', Alex Pagulayan and Ian Costello from Albany, NY. Pagulayan easily captured the hot-seat with a 9-3 win over Costello.
Costello went to the one-loss side where someone was waiting with vengeance in mind. Canadian Danny Hewitt had lost his first match of the tournament to Costello, and had won 8 straight on the one-loss side to get his rematch with Costello. The rematch was close, but Hewitt got his revenge with a 9-7 win.
This set up an all-canadian final between Hewitt and Pagulayan, who is originally from the Philippines but makes his home in Canada now. Hewitt would have to beat Pagulayan twice in the finals, but it was not to be as Alex won the hard fought match 9-7.
Pagulayan collected $1200 for first and Hewitt pocketed $780 for second. Costello and Tom D'Alfonso filled out the top 4 spots.
The Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour will be at Hot Shots Billiards in Baltimore, MD next weekend for their next event.
