The Falcon Cue 9-Ball Tour visited Rockville, MD Orange Ball Billiards on October 18 for the CMN Children's Hospital Benefit event. 62 players showed up for a day of fun and fund raising, and overall the event was a huge success. With the help of RE/MAX Pros, KH Funding and Classic Settlements, the Falcon Tour raised in excess of $10,000 to go towards the Children's Hospital and Linda Shea's baby Madison, who had open heart surgery a year ago.
The Open event saw 42 men struggle it out in a modified single elimination event. Joe Cataldi beat Ron Justice 7-1 for first place, and Jim Parker defeated Lester Mills in the consolation bracket for third place. Justice and Mills took 2nd and 4th respectively. In the women's event, 15 ladies showed up to prove their support for the cause, including Holly Ryan, Trish Spurgeon, and Eve Hosea from the CAT Tour. And of course, Linda Shea came out of retirement to come show us she can still play the game. Shea went undefeated, beating Kim Jones in the final of the winner's bracket for 1st. Amanda Smith and Trish Spurgeon took 3rd and 4th respectively.
There was also a children's event, and 7 kids played it out for the first prize, a Falcon Cue signed by Jose Parica. Francisco Cifuentes is the proud new owner of that, beating Arjun Mahajan in the finals. Arjun's sister, Arshia took 3rd over Joshua Fleming on the consolation side.
Keith McCready made a short appearance to participate in a "Big Rack" competition, in which he broke and ran out ten balls to win the $250 prize. Keith donated that to the Children's Hospital. And whoever said he was not a nice guy?
The Falcon Tour is back at Orange Ball Billiards in Rockville for the next regular tour stop, a $3,000 added event next weekend, Oct. 25-26, 2003.
