College-bound women who relax from studying by spending time playing pool or billiards will soon have an additional scholarship resource beginning this year.
The Northwest Womens Pool Association is establishing the scholarship fund so the organization can award a $1,000 annual scholarship to help Northwest women pool players achieve their educational goals.
NWPA players are currently soliciting financial pledges for each game they win during the third 2004 NWPA tour stop April 24-25 at The Cue Ball in Salem, OR. The players also accept one-time donations.
Each year the players will have a similar fundraiser to keep the scholarship fund healthy to ensure long-life to the unique women's billiard scholarship. Scholarship winners will be chosen by the NWPA board, based on their applications, grade point average and a required essay focused on women and billiards. The scholarship is available to any woman entering an accredited Northwest college or university.
Scholarship applications must be submitted to the NWPA board by May 15 of each year. The scholarship will be awarded July 1.
Pledge forms, scholarship guidelines and applications are available at the NWPA web site at www.nwpatour.com.
