The Viking Cue 9-Ball Amateur Advanced Tour and Mr. Cues II present a new format for tournament play with $5,000 added and $3,000 guaranteed to the 1st place winner at each evant.
No longer will players have to worry about their opponent's abillities or being sharked when playing for the money in a tournament, with the New Format presented in the upcoming series of tournaments you can only beat yourself. So here's your chance to get your game on and show everyone how good you really are.
The Viking Cue 9-Ball Amateur Advance Tour debuted a mini tournament using the new format at Lucky Dawg's in Athens, GA.. The feedback was positive as everyone enjoyed the new format and found it to “fun” as quoted by Stoney Stone who was one of the 16 players that participated in the mini tournament.
Players must qualify to play in the event.
Qualifiers will be held June 8-12, 2009
Qualifiers will be held on Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs and Friday prior to the 64 player event which starts on Saturday and continues on Sunday until completed and a champion is crowned.
Qualifiers will be held in flights of 8 players. 2 players from each flight will qualify for the Saturday event. If less than 8 players participate in a flight only 1 player will advance to the main event.
Qualifier flight entry fees are as follows.
Monday = $20 per player per flight
Tuesday = $30 per player per flight
Wednesday = $40 per player per flight
Thursday = $50 per Player per flight
Friday = $60 per player per flight
Players may participate in a maximum of 6 flights each day.
Only 8 flights will be held each day.
Pre registration is highly recommended.
Qualifiers FORMAT
Players will play the ghost (Equal Offense) format with break and BIH, total points after 5 games will determine your score. The highest 2 scores for each flight will qualify for the main event. In the event of a 3 or more way tie the tied players will play rounds of Sudden Death until 2 players emerge as victors.
Main Event FORMAT
Players will play the ghost (Equal Offense) format with break and BIH, total points after 10 games will determine your score. The highest 50% of the field will advance to the next round. The players that do not advance will be offered buy-backs at a fee of $50 per Buy-Back. There will be 3 Buy-Backs available for each player at their option. Play will continue until approximately 32 players remain on Saturday with the final 24-32 players returning on Sunday.
Sundays format will be 5 rounds of of play (50 games of play for each player in rounds of 10 games each with players alternating tables for each round. Total points at the end of the rounds of play will determine the final places for the players, 1st - 24 place.
In the event that less than 64 players advance to the main event Open entries will be taken for the remainng spots at a fee of $400 per spot. These spots will only be open to current Viking Tour “Amateur Only” or “Amateur-Advanced” division members.
Mini Tournaments
16 player $50 entry fee Mini tournaments will be held each night after the qualifying rounds are complete and along with cash prizes the two non-qualified highest finishers will receive qualification births into the main event
The Viking Tour reserves the right to make appropriate changes to the main event and/or qualifying event format prior to the event with respect to time constraint and number of qualified players as we see fit.
