The 2003 Patriot Cup Competition has reached the afternoon break with the score tied at 3-3.
The event got underway on Saturday with scotch doubles 9-ball and the team of Johnny Archer & Nick Varner defeating the team of Allen Hopkins & Mika Immonen 4-2. In the next match, Immonen teamed up with Corey Deuel for a 4-0 win over the team of Charlie Williams & Tommy Kennedy. The final match in the scotch doubles, saw the team of Johnny Archer & Buddy Hall defeat Rodney Morris & Tony Robles 4-3 to give the South team a 2-1 lead.
Next on the schedule was one-on-one 9-ball and the first match was Archer vs Morris. These two have met multiple times in major events this year and Archer has come away with the win in the majority of the meetings. This time was no exception, as Archer scored the 5-3 win over Morris. With one two more matches scheduled before the afternoon break, the team from the South knew they had to win one of them to have the lead going into the break. The next match was Tony Robles vs Buddy Hall and Robles made sure that his team didn't fall any farther behind as he scored the 5-2 win.
The final match was five-on-five 9-ball, with the South leading 3-2. This match was close, but was finally won by the North team 4-3. This left the score knotted at 3-3 heading into the break. Although the match score is tied at 3-3, the game score favors the North 21-17.
