Local player Norris Brady went undefeated through a field of fifty eight players at the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour stop at Mothers Billiards in Charlotte, NC.
Brady defeated Robert Ray for the hot-seat 7-4. Ray took the trip to the one-loss side where he ran into Mike Davis.
Davis had lost his second match of the day on Saturday to Shane McGill 7-6, and had been tearing through the left side of the board ever since. Davis won six matches on the one-loss side, including a 7-1 win over Tony Watson, to get the match with Ray in the semi-finals. Davis was this match 7-4 to set up a showdown with Brady in the finals.
The final match may not have seen many table runs, but the crowd was treated to a technical match featuring safety battles and great shots from both players. In the end, it was Brady scoring the 7-6 victory for first place.
The win was Brady's first on the Viking Tour. Brady collected $1280 for first, while David settled for $800 for second. Ray and Mike Fuller filled out the top four spots.
Ten ladies took advantage of the free entry fee offered to all ladies at this event. None of the ladies cashed, with Laura Benoit the highest finisher.
The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour will be at Accu-Billiards in New Bedford, MA on May 17-18 for their next event.
