Nick Varner
September 19, 2013 (Colorado Springs, CO): Hall of Famer Nick Varner has worked out an agreement with Str8 Shots to become a member of the ever growing Team Str8 Shots. He is the essence of what Str8 Shots encourages for the youth. He is a college graduate, a collegiate pool champion, and he has had a career in billiards that would make most players envious; not to mention his success as a cue manufacturer and wholesaler. He is well respected by his peers as well as all of the people who have had a chance to meet him personally. All of these things combined, make him the perfect example of what education combined with talent can do for one’s life.
“In March of 2013, we had the pleasure of spending several days with Nick, both on a professional and personal level. We knew then that we had met a true champion in every sense of the word. Aside from his accomplishments in the billiard industry, he is just an extraordinary human being,” says Marc and Kimberly Griffiths, owners of Str8 Shots.
Nick Varner will work with Mark Cantrill, who also recently began working with Str8 Shots, to develop special events, training classes, and clinics. Str8 Shots has some great things planned for the team as well as for pool players in general. We are excited about the direction we have chosen and cannot wait to launch these events around the country.
Last night Nick Varner stated, “I am just happy to be on team Str8 Shots and to be a part of giving back to the game in a way that has never been done before. Their ongoing efforts to bring the junior players up through the ranks while making sure that their education comes first is something I am proud to represent. As a collegiate player myself, I understand the importance of the goals they are working to accomplish with the youth. The fundraising efforts on behalf of youth, the giving of equipment and implementing billiard programs within the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, as well as their support of the Billiard Education Foundation; are all causes I believe will have a positive impact on the industry.
