The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour took a trip up north this weekend to Color of Money Billiards in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada for what is becoming an annual Canadian stop on the tour. While the event may have been held in Canada, it was an American player who has been visiting Canada lately, taking home the top prize.
Larry Nevel went undefeated to the hot-seat with a 9-4 win over Tony Ruberto. On the one-loss side Ruberto ran into a steamrolling Jarrod Clowery who had dropped his first match of the event to Canadian Jim Wych. After that loss to Wych, Clowery won seven straight matches on the one-loss side to get to Ruberto and then notched win number eight as he sent Ruberto to the bleachers to watch the rest of the event.
Ruberto was on his way to taking Nevel to a second set in the true double elimination finals when a miscue on the 8-ball at hill-hill cost him the match. Nevel calmly won the case game to put an end to Clowery's comeback and earn himself the $1500 first prize.
Clowery settled for $1000 for second. Ruberto and Wych filled out the top four spots.
The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour will be at Snookers Cafe & Billiards in Providence RI on May 29th - 30th for their next event.
