Larry Nevel turned in a dominating performance to win the Planet Pool 9-Ball Tour Stop at Breaktime Sports Grill & Pub in Salisbury, MD this weekend.
The match of the tournament happened on Saturday afternoon when Nevel met up with tour points leader Ryan McCreesh. McCreesh broke and played safe, Nevel kicked and hit the ball to leave McCreesh hooked. McCreesh missed the ball to give up ball in hand and never shot again as Nevel won the match 9-0. Nevel's 9-1 win over Jim McAdams for the hot-seat was almost as dominating.
McAdams came close to earning a rematch with Nevel in the finals, but came up one rack short as he lost to Brett Stottlemyer 7-6 in the semi-final match. The finals were close, but it was Nevel scoring the 9-6 win for his first win on the tour.
Nevel earned $1100 for the win, while Stottlemyer settled for $700 in prize money. McAdams and Kevin West filled out the top four spots.
The ladies division saw tour points leader Malea Haake take the hot-seat with a 7-4 win over Michelle Choe and then drop the first set of the double elimination finals to Gwen Dickert 7-6. Haacke regrouped and won the second set of the finals 7-2 for the tournament win.
Haacke pocketed $370 for first place and Dickert took home $240 for second. Choe and Amanda Pasko filled out the top four spots.
The Planet Pool Tour will be at Orange Ball Billiards in Rockville, MD on October 10th for a Children's Hospital fund-raiser and then will be at Bill & Billies Cuesport in Arnold, MD on October 23rd-24th for their next regular event.
