The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour was in action over the weekend of March 6-7 at Cap's Cue Club in Syracuse, NY with a field of players searching for their share of the $3500 in prize money available.
It looked like players would see a showdown between Dennis Hatch and Stevie Moore for the hot-seat as both players worked their way through opposite sides of the tournament chart on Saturday. That showdown would be derailed by Dave Grau, who defeated Hatch 9-8 in the final four on the winners side.
Grau would not be as succesful in the match for the hot-seat against Moore. Moore had started off his tournament with a close 9-7 win over Paul Rozonewski and had been crushing opponents ever since then. Grau would get to five games against Moore, but that was all Moore would allow.
Grau went to the one loss side and found Dennis Hatch waiting, with revenge on his mind. The match was close, but Hatch wound up with the 9-7 win and the Hatch/Moore Showdown was back on the schedule.
As anticipated as the Hatch/Moore showdown was, it turned out to be fairly anti-climactic as Moore kept on his roll and ran over Hatch 9-4 for first place.
Moore earned $1000, while Hatch settled for $800. Grau and Bucky Souvanthong filled out the top four places.
This event also featured a random drawing of free entry to the upcoming Turning Stone Classic XV and three free nights at Turning Stone. Players who did not cash were eligible for the drawing. Jose Mendez was the winner of the drawing.
