16 strong players in New England came out to play for the $800.00 and the $1000.00 cue up for grabs at the second stop on the New England 9-Ball Series at Silver Cue Billiards in Woburn, Ma.
Some of the notables that attended were Mike Minichello , Dave Fernandez, Mike Nicoloro, Rich Ross, Marc Dionne, Rick Gata and Dave Lemay. For the size of the field this event was very strong.
Winner side finals: Mike Minichello vs Cleiton Rocha. This went neck and neck the whole way. The match was tied at 6-6 and they would play one game to decide a winner. At the end of a long safety battle, Mike came out on top with the 7-6 win and a berth into the Finals.
Losers side finals: Dave Fernandez vs Cleiton Rocha. This match was very close with both players tied at 5-5 before Dave broke away to win the next two games and win the set 7-5 , Cleiton would have to settle for 3rd place and $150.00.
The Finals Dave Fernandez vs Mike Minichello. This tournament was a true double elimination tournament and Dave would have to beat mike twice. It appeared as if Dave was on his way to doing just that as he came out with a 4-0 lead in the first set. Those four games would be all that Dave would win as Mike won the next seven for the 7-4 victory.
