Mike Vidas of Vancouver has won the second stop of the Stan James Canadian Nine Ball Tour held at the Cue Club in Edmonton, Alberta. He defeated Kevin Cardinal 11-4 to take the title.
Vidas had been sent to the one-loss side by last year's tour champion, Edwin Montal 11-5 and then struggled past Brady Gollan 9-8 but then found a higher gear to take down Rob Phillips 9-6 and Rick Leon 9-4. Then Glen Cameron fell to him 9-4 and Vidas found himself in a rematch with Montal for the honor to face Kevin Cardinal in the finals. He won the rematch handily 9-5 and faced off against Cardinal for the title.
In the final match he took an early lead and dominated control of the table, steadily increasing his lead throughout the match until he won 11-4. The Stan James staff wishes to thank the Cue Club for the use of their venue as well as sponsors Stan James Bookmakers (www.stanjames.com), Canada Billiard and Bowling, Simonis Cloth, Aramith Billiard Balls, AZ Billiards.com and shooterville.com.
