Michelle Monk took her second win this season on the Tiger Bay Area Amateur Tour over the weekend of May 24, 2008. The $500 added event was held at Strokers II in Tampa, Florida.
Monk went undefeated through the field, sealing her spot in the final round with the hot-seat match win under her belt. While on the one-loss side, Helene Caukin and Tammy Gillis moved past Tour Director Stephanie Mitchell and Bettina Chase - Mitchell and Chase settled for a respectable seventh/eighth finish. Gillis and Caukin followed immediately in fifth/sixth, while Stephanie McFarlin snagged fourth place.
Leslee Davis-Blaikie ran into Dee Minor in the semi-final round. The set was slower than anticipated, so the ladies were put on the shot clock, but in the end Minor held the lead and finished the set with a victory over Davis-Blaikie.
The final round saw Monk and Minor do battle, but Minor was unable to stop Monk's momentum. At a score of 4-1, Monk broke and made two balls, made a tough shot on the two-ball and finished off Minor with a three-nine combination to end the match by a final of 5-1.
The tour would like to thank Strokers II (run by Jose Delrio and Dan Leonard); and its sponsors Tiger Products, Fury Cues, Stroke It Wear, idcardexpress, Old Chicago and many others. The next $500 added event will be held at Strokers Billiards in Palm Harbor, Florida, on June 14, 2008. For more information on the tour visit www.baattour.com
