Alice Rim and Julie Melman brought their Jacoby Cues Great Lakes Tour to Bankshot Billiards in Hilliard, OH with a field of ladies competing for a 2005 Players Choice WPBA qualifier as well as $1300 in prize money.
Aside from Rachael Abbink, the most dominant player on this tour has always been tour director Alice Rim. This time though, it was Rim's partner on the tour Julie Melman who took top honors. Melman took the hot-seat with a 7-4 win over Irene Henry. On the one-loss side, Henry found Rim waiting. Rim had lost a match on Saturday and clawed her way through the one-loss side to get this far. Henry was up to the challenge though, and sent Rim to the stands with a third place finish.
In the extended final match, Melman took an early 2-0 lead over Henry. Henry won three of the next four games to even the match at 3-3 and then the players traded games for a 4-4 tie. Melman took control of the match at that point and went on to win five of the next six matches for the 9-5 win.
Melman collected $425 in addition to the WPBA quialifier. Henry pocketed $275 for second place. Rim and Tracy Koss filled out the top four spots.
The Jacoby Cues Great Lakes Tour will be at Guppies in Holland, MI on November 20th-21st for their next stop.
