The beautiful Guppies Casual Dining & Billiards in Holland, MI saw the return of The Jacoby Cues Great Lakes Tour on November 18th & 19th. Guppies, which is owned and operated by Jerry & Candy Thomas along with a great staff that once again provided the perfect venue for the two-day event with their excellent equipment and great food which all the players enjoyed.
The tournament began with 23 players from Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Canada all out to capture the 2007 WPBA Choice Qualifier. Two time GLT season points winner Julie Melman would once again prove that she was the player to beat by besting Melissa Olsen 7-5, Tina Hess 7-1, and Irene Henry 7-4, to take her to the winner side final on Sunday to face Mississauga Ontario's Leanne Amable, who earned her way there by derailing the hottest player on the Great Lakes Tour Julia Gabriel 7-6, as well as Catherine Tschumper and Charlotte Reeder.
This was Leanne's second appearance on the Great Lakes Tour and there was only one thing that would keep her from winning this stop and that would be Julie Melman who out played Amable in the final by a score of 9 to 5. The tours next stop will be at Rack Attack in Port Clinton, OH. On December 9th & 10th for a 1000.00 added event to be played on 7ft tables this event will not be a qualifier and will not count for tour points
We would like to thank Candy & Jerry and the entire staff of Guppies as well as all our sponsors:
