The Midwest 9-Ball Tour invaded Break Billiards in Cahokia, Il over the weekend of September 18 - 19 with 63 players competing in both open and ladies divisions.
The men's division saw Steve Allison from Fairview Heights, Il come one win short of a tournament win after having to forfeit his first round match due to work. On the winners side, it was Tulsa's Shane McMinn who took the hot-seat with a hill-hill win over Gary Gwinn (of Virdin, Il).
On the one loss side, Gwinn lost another hill-hill match; this time to the hard charging Steve Allison. Allison would have to defeat McMinn twice in the finals to complete his comeback and McMinn made sure that would not happen as he defeated Allison 9-6 to earn the first prize of $1000.
In the ladies division, Chelsea Hardwick defeated Julia Gabriel 7-6 to take the hot-seat and she awaited an opponent in the finals.
Gabriel then lost to Rachel Byrket 7-1 on the one loss side, setting up a Hardwick/Byrket final match. The fans were in for a real treat in the finals as Byrket won not one but two sets with hill-hill scores.
Byrket earned $300 for first, while Hardwick settled for $200.
