McDermott takes on the boys, double dipping Royer to take Lucasi Hybrid NE 9-Ball Series

Terry McDermott

Terry McDermott won two out of three matches against Rob Royer to take first place in the Lucasi Hybrid New England 9-Ball Series on Sunday, November 21. The $1,000-added event drew 61 entrants to Legends Billiards in Portsmouth, NH.

They met first in the hot seat match, after McDermott had defeated Gregg Morse 5-3 and Royer had sent Mike Camponie west 5-4. In their first of three, Royer got into the hot seat with a 5-2 victory, his last of the day, as it turned out.

Morse moved over to meet Corey Tapley on the one-loss side; Tapley having defeated William White 5-3 and Dan Brien in a handicapped 4-4 win. Camponie drew Chris Aube, who was on a march to the semifinals, had gotten by Gareith Steele and Josh Rupard, both 4-2. Aube then shut out Camponie to move into the quarterfinals against Morse, who'd downed Tapley in a handicapped 3-5 win. Aube then chalked up his final victory of the day in a 5-3 win over Morse that put him into the semifinals against McDermot.

McDermott got her chance at redemption versus Royer with a 4-3 victory over Aube. She then took the opening set of the true double elimination final 5-3, and took the second set 3-1 to take home the first place prize.
