The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour kicked off their 06/07 season with a $2000 added event at Drexeline Billiard Club in Drexel Hill, PA.
On Sunday, the winners side came down to tour director Mike Zuglan and Ryan McCreesh. Both players were playing well and coming off dominating wins in their previous matches. As expected, the match for the hot-seat was a close one with the players fighting it out to a 4-4 tie before McCreesh took over and cruised to a 9-4 win.
On the one loss side, Jerry Slivka was knocking down opponents on a hopeful path to the finals. On Sunday alone, Slivka eliminated Bill Smith 9-2, Dave Abraham 9-4 and Billy Kirshner 9-5. That run would come to a screeching halt as Zuglan defeated Slivka 9-5 to send Slivka home in 3rd place.
The true double elimination finals got underway the same way the previous match did with both players clawing it out. This time, Zuglan pulled ahead 5-4 before McCreesh took over and won five straight games for the 9-5 victory and first place.
McCreesh pocketed $1300 for first, while Zuglan settled for $830. Slivka and Kirshner filled in the final four spots.
The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour will be at Adirondack Billiards in Glen Falls, NY next weekend for their next stop.
