The Viking Cue Amateur Tour held their 4th stop of the year on September 19th at Mr Pockets Pool And Pub in Pittsburgh, PA with a field of 38 Amateur players competing for the $500 in added prize money.
On the winners side, Stormy Flick scored a 5-4 win over G. Cinar in the quarter final match to take the hot-seat. Cinar ran into a determined Matt Nicholson on the one-loss side. Nicholson had dropped a match to Brian Alfredo, but redeemed himself with wins over John Spellman, Bob Guzik and Alfredo before eliminating Cinar in the semi-final match.
The finals were a true double elimination race to five and the match couldn't have been closer. Flick and Nicholson matched each other shot for shot and game for game the whole way until the match was tied at 4-4. Nicholson won the case game to force a second set. The second set was more of the same, as both players stayed neck and neck til the final game which Nicholson again won for the 5-4 match won.
Nicholson earned $420 for the win, while Flick took home $290 in second place prize money. Cinar and Alfredo filled out the top four spots.
The Viking Cue Amateur 9-Ball Tour will be at Fiddlestix Billiard Café in Canton, OH on September 26th for their next event.
