The Planet Pool Tour was at Drexeline Billiards in Drexel Hill, Pa on Saturday April 16th with a field of 35 players including such notables as Mike Davis, Shaun Wilkie, Ryan McCreesh, Matt Krah, Josh Brothers, Eddie Abraham, Bob Maidhof, Brian Deska, Joe Hong and Andy Lincoln.
Bob Maidhof was unbeatable on the top half of the bracket with wins over Carl Khan, Nickolas Jankowski, Dan Madden and Joe Hong. The closest Bob allowed an opponent was Hong in an 8-4 match.
Brian Deska was almost as dominant on the bottom half of the bracket with wins over David Choi, Lou Patrikios, Andy Lincoln and Shaun Wilkie. Andy Lincoln was the toughest opponent in an 8-5 match.
The match for the hot-seat saw Maidhof take control and cruise to an 8-3 win over Deska.
Deska found Shaun Wilkie waiting on the one loss side. Deska had sent Wilkie to the left side of the board 8-0 earlier in the tournament and it was Deska winning again this time 7-3 to earn another shot at Maidhof in the finals.
Deska would have to beat Maidhof twice in the finals to earn first place, but Maidhof did away with any chance of that happening with an 8-6 win in the first set.
Maidhof pocketed $875 for first place, with Deska taking $490 for second place.
