Tropicana Las Vegas, one of the last true landmark hotels in the city, will be hosting the [American CueSports Alliance] ACS Nationals for two years, starting with May 7-14, 2011, and has begun a $165 million Phase I transformation to be completed just prior to the Championships - in April 2011. Situated on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas' most famous intersection, the transformed property will feature a redesigned facade, all new rooms and suites, all new amenities, restaurants and bars, and entertainment and nightlife options that will bring the glamour, rhythm and style of South Beach to Tropicana Las Vegas. No corner of the property will remain untouched.
“The ACS Board of Directors desired a new and more exciting experience for our players attending the Nationals in Las Vega, and the new Tropicana Las Vegas met all our parameters. The next two years at “The Trop” should reflect an exciting growth stage for our organization.” reported ACS Executive Director, John Lewis.
Alex Yemenidjian, Chairman and CEO of Tropicana Las Vegas added: “This transformation will revitalize our brand while redefining the ultimate resort experience, bringing the best of South Beach to the heart of Las Vegas.” Styled to capture the laid-back island vibe, the rooms and suites are accented with bamboo furnishings and windows framed by white plantation shutters that welcome in natural light. The guest rooms are considered to be the “best-in-class” product for the mid-tier price range and will be the newest accommodations in the city. The first of the new hotel rooms will be unveiled on April 15 in the Paradise Tower.
Guests will find the excitement and sensual rhythm of the new Tropicana Las Vegas at every turn. The famous pool area, set on four acres, will be transformed into a tropical beach resort complete with gaming, bars, and restaurants. Dining will be as diverse as South Beach itself, including authentic seafood restaurants, casual dining and wine tasting from around the world. Entertainment and nightlife will echo the vibrancy of a hot Havana night with new performance spaces.
The casino, which will feature a new poker room and a new race and sports book, will channel a light, breezy, island feel throughout its 50,000 sq ft. “We are changing everything. We are turning great spaces into emotionally engaging environments. Our goal is to exceed expectations. Every guest. Every day,” added Yemenidjian.
