Anna Kostanian's fifth place finish in the first WPBA event of the year was one match short of her first television match. Today, at the generationpool.com Women's Championship, she had a chance to redeem that loss. All that was standing in her way was the #1 player on the WPBA points list and the most dominating player of the last decade, Allison Fisher. On this day, that obstacle was surmountable as Kostanian scored a 9-6 win, eliminating Fisher in 5th place and earning Kostanian a TV match with Xiao-Ting Pan Wednesday evening.
Pan eliminated Karen Corr Tuesday evening and Corr was the only player to defeat Kostanian in this event.
The other TV match on Wednesday will see Ga-Young Kim taking on Jasmin Ouschan. Ouschan scored a 9-5 win over Gerda Hofstatter, while Kim eliminated Kelly Fisher 9-7.
The men's division is also down to four players who will play in the TV matches.
Johnny Archer scored a hill-hill win over Gabe Owen to earn a match with Ronnie Wiseman tomorrow. Wiseman was on the right side of an 11-6 match with Stevie Moore. The other Men's TV match will feature Shawn Putnam taking on Jeremy Jones. Putnam scored an 11-9 win over Mika Immonen Tuesday evening, while Jones eliminated Raj Hundal 11-9.
Online brackets for both events have been updated.
