Day two matches are complete at the 2004 Glass City Open and the winners side has been narrowed to sixteen players.
The biggest surprise of the day was Jason Kirkwood's dominating 10-1 win over Nick Varner. Kirkwood was playing strong from the beginning of the match and forced Varner into a defensive mind approach at the table. Varner's safety play was just not enough as Kirkwood kicked balls from everywhere and ran out at will. Kirkwood pointed out after the match that he had lost to Varner 11-1 the last time they played so this match was a little extra special for him. Kirkwood will face Charles Bryant on Friday.
Other marquee winners side matches on friday will include Keith McCready vs Buddy Hall, Rodney Morris vs local here Steve McAninch, Shawn Putnam vs Jeremy Jones, Fabio Petroni vs Corey Deuel and Earl Strickland vs Brandon Ashcraft. Strickland scored a 10-6 win over Tommy Kennedy Thursday to avenge his loss to Kennedy at this event last year.
The 'Challenge The Pro' table was busy all day with players including Johnny Archer, Buddy Hall, Keith McCready and Gabe Owen taking challenges from fans with the proceeds going to the Children's Miracle Network.
