The final leg of the Daphne Asian Women's 9-Ball Tour was completed yesterday with Kim Ga Young taking her second leg of the tour equaling the overall performance of Jennifer Chen who also won two legs.
Kim got off to a flying start to lead Liu Shin Mei, the former World Champion and top ranked female player in Asia, by 5 games to 1 at the first interval. Shin Mei came back with all guns blazing after the interval to level the narrow the gap to 5-4. However, Kim was not capitulate under the pressure exerted by Shin Mei. Kim powered ahead taking every opportunity to take the final match with a convincing 11-6 score line.
In the playoff for 3rd and 4th place Jennifer Chen came back from behind to beat an out of form Pan Xiao Ting 9-8. At the hill at 8-8 Jennifer made an impressive 6 onto 9 combination shot into the center pocket to decide the match.
The Daphne Asian Women's Tour is sponsored by Daphne, a Taiwanese shoe retailer. It is supported by Videoland TV Channel in Taiwan. The tour is set to continue and expand next year taking in legs in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Total prize money for this year's invitational tour exceeded US$50,000.
