In a week long competition that amazingly saw all top three seeds eliminated from the top half, Korean born Kim Ga Young came out victor of the Guanzhou stage of the Daphne Asian Womens 9 Ball Tour. Kim defeated rising Chinese star 16 year old Zhou Meng Meng by 2 sets to none in the final of the event.
Both women won through their round robin groups with a win record of 4 wins and 1 loss each. Quite surprisingly, the major stars of the event, Liu Shin Mei, Jennifer Chen and Pan Xiao Ting were all eliminated in the round robin stage of the event which eliminated the bottom 3 players from each group of 6 players.
This event was played in Guangzhou in southern China as part of a 5 stop tour to be played throughout the year in Chinese mainland cities and Taiwan. The event is being televised in mainland China and Taiwan and represents a great leap forward for 9 Ball in China.
