The Tiger Canadian Women's Pool Tour held it's final tour stop on October 2nd, 2010 at Petrinas Taps & Billiards in Ajax, Ontario. Despite a small set back with a host location, Frank Kakouris, owner of Petrinas stepped in to save the day for the ladies and hold the last tour stop before the grand finale coming up in November. Thank you very much Frank for your on-going support of the CWPT!
Although only 8 ladies arrived to perform their skills, the tournament still went on to honor those who arrived. Live streaming was going on at the same time of the WPBA Atlanta Classic, so needless to say our viewers were also low until the last match of the WPBA where the viewers jumped ship and came on board to witness the finals match between Krista Walsh & Leslie Pasieka.
Both Walsh & Pasieka are no strangers to one another and clearly understand how each other plays. Despite losing her first match 5-1, Walsh battling a cold was on fire literally and didn't hesitate to look back. She clearly looked as though at one point she had no fuel in the fire when she played Denise Belanger who had Walsh 3-0 right off the bat. Then out of nowhere, balls starting flying in everywhere and anywhere with her famous kicking ability, and ousting Belanger from the event in a hill hill match.
With Pasieka waiting in the hot spot she had wins over Jessica Carrigan 6-1, Corrine Johnson 6-3 and Danidee Nailat 6-3 where she clearly had lots of rest and waited patiently for the outcome of the remaining matches.
Angela Carrigan a known CPA 8 ball player is making a name for herself here in the CWPT. Carrigan's first match was also played against Belanger where Carrigan beat Belanger knocking her to the B-side. Although Carrigan played her heart out, she wound up in 4th place again as she stated. Keep up the fight Angela, it will come!
Danidee Nailat all the way from the Phillipines, arrived on Canadian soil 3 years ago and found her way to the CWPT this past year where she decided to give 9 ball a try. She began playing 8 ball last year in another league but clearly has a passion for her new love. Nailat as stated earlier knocked Walsh to the B-side right off the hop who then fought extremely hard to earn herself a 3rd place finish for her 3rd crack in a CWPT event. Congratulations Dani!
With the finals set and live streaming up and running this is just another way for the tour to give back to all it's sponsors for the year. With this being the 3rd streaming so far, the tour is extremely excited to be airing the Canadian talent for all to see, and we look forward to big and better events.
With that being said, Walsh coming from the B-side clearly had to beat Pasieka twice as this was a true double elimination format. With both players racing to 6, Walsh started out with a 2-0 lead and by the 5th game, the score was 4-1. Leslie then went on to win the next 3 games knotting it up at 4 a piece, wow what a match. Walsh then took the lead but not before Pasieka tied it up again. Ladies & Gentlemen on table #1 we have a hill hill match. With the crowd watching, Miss Walsh defeated Pasieka in the first set 6-5. Both ladies took a break then stepped up to the table to lag once again. Although fighting as hard as she did, Leslie ran out of steam and stated, “I hit a brick wall buddy”, which ended up losing to Walsh 6-1.
Congratulations to all ladies for your hard earned efforts! Practice hard for the up-coming Championship stop at Shooters Billiards in North York, Ontario on November 13-14, 2010. For more information, contact Denise Belanger at denise@cwpt.ca or visit www.cwpt.ca .
