Manalapan, NJ - July 17, 2007 - Boston Red Sox first baseman and Bald Guyz spokesperson, Kevin Youkilis, will host the first ever Bald Guyz 8 Ball Challenge at the Boston Billiard Club during the month of September. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Jimmy Fund, which supports cancer research and care.
"As a fellow baldie, I am excited to work with Bald Guyz and Boston Billiard Club to spearhead a tournament that celebrates baldness while also raising funds for the survivor programs at Dana Farber Cancer Institute," said Youkilis. "I hope all New Englanders, hairless or not, will sign up to play and help this worthy cause."
To enter the tournament one must either be bald or agree to wear a bald headed wig during the entire competition. Qualifying rounds will start on September 22nd and 23rd at the 6 Boston Billiard Club locations in Boston, Worcester, West Springfield, Warwick, Rhode Island, Danbury, Connecticut and Nashua, New Hampshire. 4 winners from each club will play in the finals on September 30th at the Boston location, and have the opportunity to win over $10,000 in cash and prizes. The cost to enter is $150 and all participants will receive the following: A Bald Guyz Gift Pack of grooming products, Commemorative t-shirt, dinner for two at any Boston Billiard Club, and entry into the Bald Guyz Challenge Raffle. Raffle prizes include a 3 day/2 night trip for (2) to Las Vegas with airfare and hotel accommodations, a 3 day/2night trip for (2) to the Boston Red Sox Training Camp with airfare and hotel accommodations, Boston Red Sox memorabilia, customized pool cue and more.
