Keegan Badour Wins Stop #9 of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series

Stop #9 of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series at Good Times Billiards started out with a tough field of SoCal pool players, with Keegan Badour (641) defeating Al Garcia (595) 8-4 in a single 8/7 race finals. This is K9’s SECOND win in the series, matching Michael Hansen, Paul Vinas and Darwin Bernadaz on 2 wins each!

Keegan started out very strong in round 1, defeating Carlynn Sanchez (594) 7-2, and followed it up with a very close hill-hill victory over Shahdad Zand (634). Rounds 3 and 4 were close but decisive 7-4 wins over RJ Villasenor (589) and Julius Argumedo (585). By the time the hotseat match came, Keegan was ready and eager to capture another Mezz tour win, and came with his best game yet to defeat Al 7-1.

K9’s Fargo coming into the event was 641; his Effective Rating for this stop was 703 – close to pro speed!

Al’s run to the finals was strong as well, starting out with a win over Stop #8 and #9 Champion Darwin Bernadaz (684), followed by a tight win over Jamal Oussi (609). His game jumped into high gear in round 3, where he took out a tough new player Josh Watson (677) 5-0, and proceeded to run the table against San Diego’s own Steve Kwon (536) with a decisive 7-2 victory. Only when he arrived to the hot seat match did Al lose his edge to Keegan, but was able to narrowly defeat the Rhino (619) after the crowd favorite hung a long 9-ball in the case game, setting up a rematch with Keegan in the finals.

Congrats as well to all those below that cashed and put up some big numbers on the Leaderboard!
