NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - Toronto's Brittany Bryant, fresh off her win in the World Junior 9-Ball Championships in Reno earlier this week, made it all the way to the semi-finals here at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel. It was her first ever TV appearance, and the sold-out crowds were definitely cheering her on.
But Karen Corr is a veteran champion with over 25 major titles to her credit. Before Brittany could blink, Karen won six straight games. Then, in the seventh rack, Brittany made a brilliant runout to get on the board at 6-1. She broke in the eighth rack, made a ball, but was left tough on the one ball. Bryant made a valiant effort to pocket the one and continue her run, but hung the one in the pocket. Karen Corr stepped to the table and, in characteristic champion form, drained the remaining balls on the table for a 7-1 victory in the first ESPN televised semi-final.
Next up at 3:00 pm EST, China's Xiaoting Pan will face off against Korea's Ga Young Kim to determine who will meet Karen Corr in the WPBA Tour Championship final bout for the title!
