Day one is complete at the Turning Stone Classic XI and fans at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY have already seen their fair share of upsets.
Tony Robles was the first top seed to be sent packing to the left side of the board, but by the end of Thursday play he was joined by Shawn Putnam and Corey Deuel.
Robles lost a hill-hill heartbreaker to Chuck Altomare early on Thursday.
Putnam ran into a buzzsaw by the name of Jonathan Pinegar. Pinegar made quick work of Putnam for a 9-3 win.
In one of the bigger upsets of the day, WPBA Star Julie Kelly showed no respect for Corey Deuel's recent win at the Million Dollar Shootout and sent him to the one loss side 9-8. Deuel actually led the match 8-6, but a bad safety by Deuel let Kelly to the table where she ran out the set.
Another WPBA star who scored a nice win was Liz Ford who topped Bobby Blackmore 9-8 on Thursday. Karen Corr wasn't even tested in her 9-1 match against James Roberts and Canadian Joanne Ashton scored a 9-8 win over Jason Hutchins.
Friday play will see a number of marquee matches as Mika Immonen faces Jose Parica, Jeremy Sossei plays Shaun Wilkie, Mike Davis takes on Raj Hundal, Ernesto Dominguez faces Francisco Bustamante and Tony Crosby plays Johnny Archer.
