Jimmy Shafer is 9 Ball KING of LA

After a full year of nine ball pool around LA, including over 90 Digital Pool tournaments and over 200 players, “Hawaiian” Jimmy Shafer (672) ends up on top, winning the 64 player seeded single elimination invitational after going 6 rounds undefeated.

On his list of victories included Derek “D-WRECK” Zurita (369), Keegan “K9” Badour (634), Phong Ha (626), Chris Wedekind (634), Beau Runningen (740), and Melissa “Dragon Lady” Helland (658) in the single race final. Both players put on a great show for the fans, playing highly aggressive pool with power shots, banks, and calculated safeties. A few missed shots from Melissa when both were close in racks was all that Jimmy needed to pull away and close the set out, 9-6.

Melissa went on a tear herself through the tournament, defeating Rogeur Habachiy (630), Terrence Lee (578), David Butler (668), Chaokun Li (590), and finally Jamal Oussi (618). Her semi-final match against Jamal was a very intense one, with Jamal edging out in front most of the match but missing a few critical shots as well.

A message to all players from this season from Chris Santana //
This concludes Season 2 of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series, and I want to thank all of you that participated! We went bigger and better this season, introduced the Weeklies tournaments, brought on new players, a few new sponsors, and countless new friendships. In my 17 years of promoting pool (shoutout to Hot Shots Cypress!), this has been the most exciting and fun endeavor I’ve ever taken on. I could not have done it without all of you.

BIG shout out to the Top 8 of the regular season: Beau Runningen (Top Shooter), Jose G Centeno (watch out – he’s going pro!), Rhino Lay (I knew you could do it, old man!), Spencer Ladin (best hair of Season 2), Keegan Badour (way to rep Good Times buddy!), Rakesh Bunga (strong season!), Jerry Lazzareschi (best white tee of Season 2), and Joe Hanink (thanks for all the help this year!).

Lastly, Season 3 is kicking off on January 7th, and I can promise you that 2024 is gonna be BIG. Expect double the amount of events and better odds for those of us that can’t run more than a few in the main events! The monsters out there may still have an edge, but I can assure you they will need to work for it. I want to see the BEST come out of all of you, and that you’ll all keep an eye on your game and how it progresses from season to season. Set a goal and execute it at the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series!
