Jeremy Jones wins Lexington All Star 9-Ball Championship

Jones won 14 of his final 15 games

Jeremy Jones ran thru a very tough draw to win the Lexington All-Star 9-Ball Championships over the weekend. Jones had wins over Alex Pagulayan, Charlie Williams, #4 seed Rafael Martinez, #6 seed Jon Kucharo and #1 seed Earl Strickland before he came up short against #2 seed Corey Deuel. After a hill-hill victory over Jose Parica on the one loss side, Jones redeemed his only loss with a 15-8 win over Deuel in the extended finals. "The draw didn't bother me" said Jones after the tournament, "I had to play to win, but the knew the pressure was on them too".

Jones trailed in every match, including starting the final set down 0-5 against Corey Deuel. "I just wanted to make sure I didn't sell out.", said Jones. Jones went on to win 14 of the next 15 games for a 14-6 lead before finally putting the match away 15-8.

"I wasn't aware of it until after the finals were over, but they told me after the match I ran 7 racks one time and 5 more another time. I didn't really notice. I really wanted to win this tournament, and the final match was the best match I have played in a long time.

Jones collected $5000 for the win while Deuel settled for $2500 for second. Jose Parica and last years winner, John Brumback filled out the top 4 places.

Brumback also won the bank pool event put on by the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour. Brumback went undefeated thru the event and defeated Shannon Daulton in one set as he pocketed the final ball on the table in the hill-hill match. Brumback collected $1500 for first in the bank event and Daulton took $900 for second.
