MANILA, PHILIPPINES---Jeffrey "Bata" de Luna remained Pool Showdown's "Hari ng Mesa" last Saturday night when he defeated challenger Panfilo "Abu" Damuag 11-7 in a thrilling 10-ball match at the Rizal Memorial Billiards Zone.
From 5-all, de Luna raced to a 7-5 advantage. Each time Damuag closed the gap, de Luna would spurt ahead.
With the score at 10-7, the first Pool Showdown "Hari ng Mesa" administered the coup de grace with a masterful runout.
For his second successive match-of-the-week victory, de Luna won for himself the weekly prize of $1000 and a bonus of $500 for remaining king of the table.
Damuag for his part got the challenger's prize of $800, earned for his victory in the ring game to pick the weekly challenger.
In the post-match interview on ABC-5, De Luna declared that he would defend his pool kingship and he was "ready to take on anyone."
The twice-a-week pool TV program proceeds with another ring game this Monday (Oct. 8) at the Rizal Memorial billiards facility. The winner of the ring game will challenge De Luna on Saturday, October 13
